Staying at home is so BORING!

Today is the first day I sort of came home right after training so I reached my aunt's house at around 3. Bath, checked my mail, made my resistance, facebook... and the time now is only 5! -.- My contacts are ready but Jon can't make it later so I'm not sure if I'll go and try it.

Actually, not that I have nothing to do at home, just that I don't feel like doing them yet. Homework, pack my room, tidy up J1 stuff... Aiya, there's always tomorrow HAHA It's kind of scary when most people around you are already FINISHING their holiday work when you are still waiting for the right moment to start doing yours. Oh no, cannot be so lazy otherwise next year GG. Workload, trainings and committements increase = Sleep sacrificed. Haizzz.... how can i give up my precious sleep?! Aiyo, everything back to time management again...

Oh ya, i need to register online for my H3 Econs today... (shui kun, you can skip this sentence :D)

Waking up at 5am everyday just to rush to Kallang for training
I think I'm losing motivation to train... need to find it back soon cos nationals is only about 3 months plus away

Today, i purposely missed one of the train cause i knew the next one will be empty. So i managed to get a seat and slept all the way.. and missing my station haha. When i woke up, i saw Kallang Station and heard the tu tu tu tu tu. Then the door closed. Alamak! Had to take a return train back to kallang and rush to SDBA.

Surprisingly, cao decided that today shall be rest day so there was no weights and abs! Everyone was super happy. But training kind of feel sian when everyone is missing. Half the team is overseas so only 10 plus people training now. I also want to get out of singapore!

After so long, i finally went for a haircut HAHA it was rather long and messy so i decided to cut it at Jacky's place today. Took Ji Zhou's shun feng che cause he was going for hair treatment there too.

Oh, i saw this really nice shirt at ZARA today but it's $80! Then ji zhou keep tempting me to buy, say "very nice on you leh! i want but doesn't suit me, fits you then you don't want" ARGH!!! Shit i think i will go back and buy it haha.

I think i will spend all my bday money soon cause i want

Race with no Regrets!

Today, our team had our first ever dragonboat race at River Regatta. We were more or less prepared although we only had about 6 weeks to train for the race. We managed to enter the semi finals as the second position in our heats with a lead of 1/5 of a second. That's 0:20s OR 0:00:20 min. Our timing.... 1:29:34 min

A lot of things happened today during the competition and we were super super super lucky to get into the semis. Long story... let's just look at the screwed up parts... Firstly, our boat drifted back about 1m behind the other boats just before the start of the race. It's not just that we start further back, it was more difficult for us to paddle forward due to the current. Tougher and more tiring start burst. Secondly, we were at lane 5 which is the toughest lane. Lane 1 has an advantage as the water current is pushing the boat forward. Eventually, for that heats, we were 4th out of 5 teams and we couldn't get into semis. Only the first 2 positions can enter semis.

But, I guess we were super lucky today. One of the boat went to buang another boat then the team went to protest. (We also protest for our bad start oops!) Then, we got a re-race because the organizers said that they cannot differentiate who's first and second from our race. (So lame la, but thanks for the second chance) So we had to wait until about 5 for the second heats. We were so freaking happy that we were giving the second chance. I told myself, I do not want to feel the same way as just now. (i was super emo and fangry after our first heats) It's the last chance, take it or it will be gone. RACE WITH NO REGRETS!

It is a short race, just 300m (or 1.5 min) Either you put in your very best for that 1.5 min or you will regret after the race. So, we just whack! ALLLL OUT!

It was very competitive and we couldn't tell the positions of the boats. Every boat seems to have crossed the finishing line at the same time. So, we were very nervous before the results were announced. The difference between the first and last boats was less than a second. We managed to get 2nd position behind Kovan CC Youth Team (who was just 0:05s ahead of us) which means SEMI FINALLLS, here we come!

Honestly, I am very happy that we can make it into semis as this is our very first db race. Although I'm very contented with our performance, tomorrow we will still put in all our effort to fight for a position in the finals!

Today is rest day because tomorrow will be the heats for our dragonboat race. I was so bored at home. Totally NOTHING to do, except to wash my tiger and throw away all my sec 3 notes and worksheets. I didn't dare to do anything as I'm afraid that something that will affect the race happens. The race is too important for us.

It has been about 1 month plus since we started our dragonboat trainings and we have made great improvements as a team. The current team best for 300m is 1:19 min. Hope we can go faster during the competition.

I missed the ice cream treat by Mrs Chua today because there was training. Since I missed training yesterday due to CCA Leaders Forum, I did not want to skip training again today. Beside, I will grow eugene if I went because I love ice to eat cream. Never mind, I guess Joon Fai probably ate my share, haha!

Oh, finally, I clocked 12km today, but in 2 sessions - 5km then 7km.

First Water Training

Today, we had our first water training after promos. It was super tired but at least I endured through. May be I was slacking... Nooo, 6 months left before nationals, we have to work hard now, like what Coach Markus said, "Give your best every training". Canoe Championship, here we come!

Today is also the first time I went to the Singapore Flyer, not to take a ride on the Ferris wheel, but to collect my race bag for Nike Human Race that is held next Saturday. Although it is only 10km, I have this feeling that I will cui because I have not been running recently due to promos. Fats attack! :(

Finally, there are some outings: Part activity, Chicken Porridge's house warming party and class outing :D

Sorry, Yi Cheng and everyone else at the party last night! Sorry for spoiling the surprise!

Lol. As I had a dinner last night, I thought I couldn't go for Yi Cheng's birthday party. The dinner ended early so I decided to rush down to his house at around 9pm. Thinking that the surprise would be over and he should be celebrating then, I called him and asked him how to pronounce his address -.-

"Hello, how do you pronounce your address?"
"Huh, why do you need my address?"
Knowing that something was wrong...
"Oh wait, am I calling the correct person?"

Then, throughout the taxi ride, I was thinking, "Crap, I think I just screwed up the surprise!" And when I reached his house, everyone shouted "ALFRED!!!!" Then, Jon Chong started to bitch me... And, I got bonded at the living room -.-!!!

I really feel damn bad because I spoiled the party and I did not bring anything for the pot luck.

I feel that my life is so boring without training. I went school today because there was nobody at home and there was nothing to do. At first, I thought I will be mugging alone since I did not ask anyone to study with me. Luckily, Ren Jie Han (ren jie and jie han) were there, so I studied with them. I was simply slacking throughout the day, doing only 10 questions of math tutorial 7b.

Another boring day passed...

Oh, I was wondering if I should go to Young Leaders Summer School at Melbourne University, Trinity College. I have never been to Melbourne and I think that this trip will be rather fun. But, if I go, then I will miss a lot of the holiday trainings and all my effort since the start of the year may just be wasted!!! ARGH! What should I do???

Lonely Day

OMG! I actually went to sentosa alone today -.- My swimming coach wanted the team to go and watch a National Lifesaving Competition at Siloso Beach. As I have training before that, I did not meet the rest and went down myself after lunch. When I reached there, there wasn't a single person I know there, so I stood at one corner and watch the competition. Freaking lonely!!!

Honestly, I find the competition super lame. Before the start, they will lie face down on the beach with a few sticks about 10m behind them. When the referee blows the whistle, they will get up and run for the sticks. The person that does not get the stick will be disqualified. Then, they repeat this around 10 times to decide who wins.

When I thought it was boring enough, a girl decided to protest and the organizers stopped everything. You protest when something unfair happened during the race and caused you to lose. So, they stopped the event and watched the film of that race over and over again. There was practically nothing to do there. No race to watch and no one to talk to. After about 30 minutes, I decided to leave because I realized that I will most probably fall asleep if I stayed.

Then the lonely journey home.... hai

I was so tired that the moment I reached home, I collapsed onto the sofa by the door and slept for 2 hours. lol

It is super slow.

Since this is my first attempt at triathlon, I guess it's fine if I'm so slow. Actually, I was not sure about the pace of the race and I was afraid that I will "cui" in the middle, so I just took my own sweet time to complete it. Slacker =) After the race, I started to regret as I knew I did not give my best and I could have gone even faster. I wasn't feeling super tired after the race -.-! Anyway, I managed to learn some stuff from other people during the race today.

OK, I shall take today's race as an intro to triathlon for me.

I want to hit 1 hour next year, lol!

I can't participate in any 21km event this year because runners have to be above 17 years old on the race day itself. This applies to all other races in Singapore - 18 for 42km marathon. Crap, this means that I have to wait for another year before I can participate in the races. =(

The earliest 42 km race for me is Sundown 2 years later (2011). Haha! I better start training if I want to even complete it. LOL!

Oh my god, I actually did 10km today on my red Boris Two. But it was not very good after all. I couldn't paddle continuously and I capsized 4 times! I felt so bad when I caused the girl who rescued me to capsize. Then, both of us were in the water and it was quite screwed. Those who went past were having time trial and could not help us. Luckily, she can get back to the boat herself. After I paddled for about another km, I capsized again! She was the closest paddler but I didn't want to trouble her again or make her capsize again. So I had to swim about 100+ metres back to the closest floating platform.

To think about it optimistically, it is quite an achievement for me to paddle so far. It is the first time I paddled such a distance since I joined canoeing. Hope I can catch up with David and Shen Nan soon. Haha!

Oh no, my knee is "so cui" now. It starts to get numb after I paddled for roughly 3 km. When are we getting our personalized knee pad? I think only canoeists will understand this paragraph.

Mervyn, I know you are reading this, LOL! And you will most probably "niao" me next training. Haha.

Holidays are here but it feels different from the past few years. Previously, we have our all our tests before the holidays so we can enjoy the break. But, now, after the holidays will be our blocks. So now the entire holiday will be spent on studying hard for blocks...

It feels like everyone around me is mugging like crazy now while I'm still slacking and wasting all the precious time. I guess it's time I settle down and start planning for my holidays. First, I want to organize and pack all my notes and tutorials neatly in files which I have done this morning. Second, I want to list down the things to study for each subject and start mugging. Third, I want to consult my tutors on topics that I don't understand. Finally, I want to ace my blocks!

I think I have done rather badly for the first half of the year and disappointed my parents. Everyday when I reach home, they would ask for my test results. And when I tell them that I screwed it, they will nag at me for some time.

Anyway, I should not be blogging if I really want to spend my time well. See you!

Ok, so it has been a long time since I last posted. I'm just so busy with BBI, trainings, school work and stuff. Actually, I'm also a little lazy to blog nowadays. Haha.

Ever since I reached home last night, my aunt has been nagging me about my results, even until now, so I will keep this post really short. I should really start to manage my time well, juggling different commitments like canoeing, school life and BBI.

Gtg now, otherwise my aunt will nag again... This weekend will be gone in a blink of an eye again, training later, saucony run tomorrow.

Biathlon

Finally, the biathlon is over. Everyone is waiting for the results to be posted online, so am I. It was our first try at biathlon and definitely, it was a tiring one. Swimming against the current, drinking in salty seawater and running in the hot weather. It was really difficult to swim in the open sea due to the waves and current. I took about 5 minutes more than the time I took in the swimming pool. In the sea, I couldn't even see my hand when I swam. After every few strokes, I had to look and make sure that I do not divert from the race course. But it was near impossible to stay on the course. When I reached the shore, I was about 10m away from the actual road to the transition area and the volunteers were shouting at me to tell me where to go. And, I didn't have my spectacles. The 5km run was tiring as well because it was really hot. Whenever I see the hired photographer, I will pretend to run without any difficulties so that I will look nicer in the photos.

Biathlon

47.47 mins! Ah ha, that's my timing for our biathlon trial today. I was the slowest for swimming, completing 15 laps in 17.38 mins. But I caught up with the rest for the run and took nearly 30mins which was slow like a tortoise. I hope I can maintain this standard for Saturday, please!

Inter School Biathlon

Oh my god, this Saturday is the Inter School Biathlon. And the route map is out. I've to swim 750m (15 laps of 50m) and run 5km. I have been training for the 5km run but not the swim, so on Wednesday, Jonathan, Jun Ying, Xuan Cheng, Yu Xuan, Wu Di and I will be having a time trial for the race. Actually they call it survival trial because we do not even know if we can complete it. As long as I can complete the race, I will be very happy because it's my first attempt in a biathlon. Oh my god! So excited... lol. I think I will disgrace the school because my timing will be like what Coach Bob will say "out of the world". Hai...

And my 5km timing improved, Muhahahaha! From 25.25 to 25.16. I know it's slow...

Today's phyics lecture test was !@#$%^& I was very careless and I forgot about many concepts. Crap!

Dragonboating

Today was a really tiring day. Last night, the canoeing team went for post nationals dinner and some of us stay backed to play LAN. I only managed to reach my aunt's house at 12, so I sleep until very late this morning. Jonathan's call woke me up.... argh! Then, we went to buy cushioning pads for Dragon Boating at IKEA and tights for biathlon and training at queensway. Since, last Saturday when I got my ATM card, I have withdrawn almost $200. I have to control myself and stop spending so much money.

Mr Quek suggested that we go for Dragon Boating for a few week since we can't have water training now. It was at Kallang, the super smelly and dirty river. It was quite fun but the weather was really hot. We rowed for about an hour and headed back to the rental shop. The other teams that were rowing, were exceptionally fast and co-ordinated. There was this team of girls who practised start burst and their frequency was god like.

Jonathan and I headed to Bugis after the training for dinner and bought some singlets from Bugis Street. Oh my god, I'm still spending money...

Anyway, yesterday, Jun Hong really gave us an wake up call, at least for me. So, I decided that we have to training much harder during training and stop slacking. I seriously feel that we are not serious and focused during gym and paddling sessions and...

Wait, got to go home now, continue next time....

I'm really afraid that my batch cannot maintain the standard next year because we only have 3 canoeists (zhe hou, daniel and mervyn) who have been paddling since high school. Furthermore, Joseph is not coaching us anymore because he has to prepare for YOG.

Today's physics lecture was sweet eating competition. Everyone got so sleepy that we had to spam sweets to keep us awake. Guess how Jun Ying got his sweets? Photocopying shop, duh? lol. He put his hand into the vase of sweets from outside the photocopying shop. Then the auntie was right beside the vase and she was laughing and said, "Can see the hand but cannot see the person!"

Goal setting

Time for goal setting for this short holiday!

1) At the very least, complete all tutorials and extra practice homework.
2) Go for a Service Learning exhibition to present our SL project (which I totally forgot about it and my team has not started anything, oops!).
3) Think about my JC "career" and plan my commitments.
4) Revise all the topics taught in term 1.
5) Most importantly, enjoy the holidays!

Yesterday, we had a mini 4K gathering and stay over at Kevin's house. As usual, there was mahjong, xbox (latest street fighter IV with holy graphics!), movies and endless chit chatting. I checked my results for term 1 and guess what I got? A (72%) for Economics and D (50%) for Math. Not very good but there is nothing I can do now but to work harder. Oh, Kevin is planning a BBQ at this house next week, probably Tuesday evening. 4K'08, everyone please go! His father bought 5 tables for Gala dinner and he gave me 1 ticket, so now I have 2 tickets to Gala dinner. Anybody wants to buy the ticket from me?

Today, we had X country at Macritchie Reservoir. Actually, Macritchie is a super familiar place because I'm always there on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday.

I completed the run in about 21.30 minutes, which is rather slow. At the last stretch, I saw Ren Jie about 50m ahead of me, so I decided to over take him. I sprinted like crazy and when I was about to reach him, he started to sprint! -.- Lost to him, duh! Arghhh...

After drinking about a bottle of water, I realized that my NCC brothers were going to second round. So, Wei Jing, Hong Run, Jun An, Jun Yan, Yi Sheng and I ran to the starting line. But they already left. Then, we jogged slowly hoping to catch up with the rest. Eventually, we met them, but not during the run, it's after the run. LOL

I left early to paddle, and missed the prize presentation ceremony. Crap! Anyway, we paddled to about an hour before leaving the shed, hoping to meet the rest of the cohort. Nope, by the time we reach there, everyone had already left.

Jun Ying and I headed back home on a 156 and I actually fell asleep STANDING! -.- So proud of myself, haha.

I passed my math! 15/30 Muhahaha! But, I am rather disappointed about it. It's the first time I screwed up math so badly.

Ok, I felt like a walking zombie in school this week. I was super super tired from all the things I have - Canoeing which includes paddling, weights and endless pull ups, Swimming lessons twice a week, Drama feste and homework.

So, on Friday, I went home early from Canoeing and fell asleep at 7.30! Then, I slept for about 11 hours before going to Independent Programme Scholarship Test. Pray that I pass so that I can save lots of money ($300/month) for my parents. Actually, if I have done well in Primary 6, I would have gotten it, but I only scored 250+2. :(

Anyway, now I'm much more energize. Hopefully I can stay energetic for the next week.

Today is the day when I left school earliest - 3.30pm! I went home so early to play with Ace because it's very lonely to stay at home alone for him. When I reached home, he was scratching his cage and barking extremely loudly because he wanted me to let him out. After I walked him around my neighbourhood, I wanted to go to my cousin's pet shop to buy him a ball. But, I couldn't find a lock for my bike and I'm afraid that I might lose my bike when I'm in the shop. So, I think I will go and buy with my father later.

Oh, I met Cheng Siang today and the first thing he told me was, "Alfred, I don't know when is OG Basketball." LOL? Anyway, anyone wants to have OG outing again? Peferably, with most people there.

Yeah! Tomorrow, I can get to paddle again! Please don't rain!

Tired!

Tonight was POP - Post Orientation Party! It was as good, high and exciting as campfire, may be even better. It started with Apollo! Boom, Boom! Shake, Shake! ~~Elffred Toh~~ Apollo! This phrase is super addictive. We were going around shouting our editions like Boom, Boom! Shake, Shake! Take photo! Next was Ares! ~~The traffic police with their white gloves...~~ They gave a cool performance too! Then, it was Put your hoods up time! Athena! Finally, get ready to inhale this! Artemis! Honestly, I smoked through some parts because it was too fast to catch up. "So hot in here!"

SODACHE! I was dancing with Alan Lin, LOL! Tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, tap, Turn, Twist, twist, twist, Kick! And we danced with the music "Don't care 3 7 21!" Then, there were choo-choo train around the central plaza and more fac dances!

After going to SOC to take some photos and pull some ups, we went to KAP. Almost the entire One Hwachong was there, mostly Athenians, the green men and women. As usual, we played Give Me Tempo and Truth or Dare which became Love Stories in the end. I came home early because I have training tomorrow at 7.30! I have no idea why am I blogging now when I am supposed to be fast asleep.

Crap, today, I didn't have the chance to play with Ace because I came home too late. Never mind, tomorrow then I play with him.

Canoeing

Tired.

Just came back from Canoe trials. We all made it into the team, 12 of us. Now, there are 20 J1 canoeists. But, we were quite lucky because the coach thought all 20 people who wrote their names will go this morning. And I supposed he planned to keep only 10+. As only 12 came today, we all got in. Haha! I'm a canoeist.

Anyway, Yong Boon and Yee Nam were lost in the forest during the familiarization run at Macritchie Reservoir. Then, we had to split up and find them. As everyone was very tired after the run, we walked slowly. In the end, Mr Quek (not sure how to spell) scolded us.

Oh, and Mr Quek (teacher in charge of Canoeing) lives near me. He lives near West Coast Plaza, no wonder last time I saw him on 154.

Now that I made it into canoeing, I will not be running anymore. Running as in running for council. That day Zi Tao came to me and said, "You running?" Then, as I though he was asking if I am running as in the physical running, I replied, "No, playing frisbee" He continued, "council leh" Then I gave the -.- face. That's not the worst. Ren Jie showed me his Geo worksheet and said that he is geo-ing (jogging)! -.-|||

I feel quite sad for Ace, because according to my "research", he is a very sociable dog and requires people to play with him most of the time. But, my family usually leave home for school and work early and come back late at night. From now on, if I have nothing to do in school, I should go home and play with him rather than stay in school or go my Aunt's house. Anyway, I'm planning to buy him a ball to play with. Anyone want to play with him? Lol.

STJ on saturday. We are going to Bryan's house for BBQ. I bet we will lots of fun ~~stabbing someone~~. We, as the Junior class, should organize JTS ~~(Jay treat Seniors)~~ soon.

On Saturday, there will be trials for Canoeing too. It's only the first day of a series of tests. Honestly, I doubt I can pass. Anyway, I just want to try. I don't want to regret next time. If I can't get in, then I may be going TKD, Taewondo.

Oh, Sarah said that my dog is cute. It's true to a certain extent only. Every night, when I try to ~~walk~~ run my dog, he will just run around the neighbourhood. If you have been to my house, you will know how big my neighbourhood is. To make things worse, my father never use the leash he bought because Ace is" dammmmnnnn smart lah". I think he's a hunting dog. He never get lost in my neighbourhood. If I'm not wrong, he use his pee to mark his trails.

Yesterday, once more

Yesterday was the last day of orientation. The campfire was simply awesome. It started with performances of various faculties, Athena, Artemis, Ares and Apollo. There were also faculty dances 08 & 09 in between the flag presentation and performances. Everyone was in high spirits (after drinking the "Hwachong Spirit" drink).

Then, we had campfire at central plaza. There were songs (so), dances (da) and cheers (che) around the campfire. Everyone was jumping up and down, running around and shouting. The song session was the best because it was the simplest and the songs were nice and meaningful. As most people don't know the dances well, the dance session was rather screwed up. And, I had to partner a guy. And finally, what did we do? We cheer!!

After everything ended, the senior and the junior classes of 65 went to Serene Center. Although not everyone went there, it was super fun. We played 一想到，我就想到. It was disturbing but very funny.

Originally, I was from Athena, but they changed my class over the weekend. Most people in the Athena are very self high (zi high). I heard someone say that they have nothing to lose, so they are the winners. Lol. So, they went around chanting, "A-A-A-thena!"

Anyway, we have Pao Pao as our Dance IC, Haha. Our faculty dance will rock the Bukit Timah people.

Now that I have my class, I need to think about my CCA. These should be my choices in order:
1. Shooting/Ultimate Frisbee (as I want to participate in sports CCA)
2. Wind Surfing (if Chai Bin manages to set it up)
3. Council (if I can find a good group, not confirmed)

Ok, my post on the last day of orientation was deleted -.-

Anyway, Rev-it-up has been a wonderful orientation and OG 28 rocks! Although we did not manage to get any tangible achievement, I believe that the group has forged friendships that will last a lifetime, hopefully. It's quite sad that the orientation as an OG ends so quickly, because everyone just got to each other better. Shall we have some OG outings after revving-it-up?

I hope that I get into a decent class, please! Pray, pray, pray...

Today is the first day of orientation, and the best day, so far! Pole dancing for forfeit, TWICE.

The second time was when someone from OG29 had to pole dance and wanted demonstration. Being so experienced, I naturally became the chosen one... Pole dancing in front of 2 OGs is very embarrassing. My face turned red like raw lobsters became cooked.

Then, there was school tour and finally, sodache, which essentially stands for Songs Dances and Cheers. We learned 2 songs, Batch Song 09, Hwachong (Clap, Clap), Rev up (Clap, Clap), Rev it up and let's go... and 唱一首华初的歌, Woo!

First Day of School

Today's the first day of school.

The first thing I did was to collect this from Sam. Winston's bought it from Australia because it was cheaper.
The entire day consist of only 2 one hour lectures - Mathematics and Chemistry. During Chemistry lecture, the lecturer showed us videos of pure sodium vs water. As sodium is very reactive, it reacts rapidly with air and water, which can cause a mini explosion.

Tomorrow, I'm going out with Justin and Kevin Toh to buy shoes. Hope I can find the shoes I want because the 2 shops I went left with the display set and they were size 12 (for Aden).

Yesterday, we got back our "O" Levels Higher Chinese Results. I got an A2. Actually, I wanted an A1. I'm not sad, but I'm rather disappointed.

Honestly, I did not work very hard for my Higher Chinese. I merely read notes give by the teachers. I have never read a chinese book or read newspaper regularly. Perhaps, my mandarin speaking family background gave me an average standard in Chinese.

I think most people are having some problems choosing their CCAs for Junior College. At least, I am. Bowling is just too expensive. I heard that it is roughly $60 per month. If I do not get scholarship for JC, then I will probably not choose bowling.

Now, what are CCAs are left for me to choose? I don't think I will join any clubs. Neither will I join dance since I can't dance. Arghh.... Any suggestions?

My brother told me that there is a bike-athlon in February. It will be $10 for registration and $5 for bike and helmet rental. They will be cycling from Tampines to East Coast Park via the park connectors. Anyone interested?

Monday will be the release of O Levels Results but the school has not informed us about the collection of our results. David called the school adminstration and was told that we will only have to collect on 19th. Sam said that we better go tomorrow. If it's not tomorrow, then we will play basketball. Details: 2pm at school, bring PE attire.

Chalet

For the past 3 days, I was having my part chalet. It was awesome!

On the first day, I was late because I had an interview my The New Paper in the afternoon. So I reached National Service Resort and Country Club. The first day, night in fact, was spent on Little Nonya and mahjong. During dinner, some of us met Lu Gua from the Channel 8 show, Chen Tian Wen if I'n not wrong.

Then, Yi Sheng, Jun Kai, Yit Khai, Basil, Aaron, Sam and I wanted to have our dinner, supper for me, but the poolside cafe had closed so we wanted to walk to East Coast Park. Halfway there, or rather 10% of the journey, we stopped as the destination is too far. So we sat down on the road and ordered McDonald's.

As we were having our meal, Jonathan arrived in a cab with his mahjong. Selfishly, we decided to play mahjong without telling the rest so we hid the mahjong and told them that Jonathan did not bring. Instead, we were playing at the backyard.

Late in the night, Jun Kiat, Sam and I was having KTV in the bedroom as Sam played musics from his ipod.

The second day started late as usual. Some people played mahjong while most of us went to swim. As we were hungry, some of us cycled to Changi Village which was about 12km away for lunch and cycled back. We were badly burnt by the sun.

On the last day, we had to book out by 10am so everyone woke up early. We had lunch at Pizza Hut and I headed back home to change and went to school for orientation. Orientation was awesome! There was a mutual at the exhibition booth on Target Indication which looked just like mine, but my is at home. Originally, I wanted to go Queensway Shopping Centre with Sam, Basil, Yi Sheng, but I had to go to Clementi Zone 3 Residence Committee as Food From the Heart sent food supply.

Even though we only won the Extreme Collaboration title from the competition (no prize money), we received much acknowledgements from various parties. One of the judges was from Logitech. Being impressed by our submission, I supposed, he decided to reward us with some goodies from the company. We were also interviewed by the New Paper on Monday and the article was published on Tuesday. The team was featured in Washington Times too.

Orientation

Today is the last day of our orientation in OGs. So, my OG went to Plaza Singapura to buy Sherwyn a giant teddy bear which is wearing a Kungfu Panda shirt. Somehow, it has this special ability to make everyone wants to hug it.

Anyway, orientation started with the final day of games. We decided to wear green as an OG, and Lionel, Ben and Cheng Siang had to wear NY shirts because they didn't have green tees. Our first station was Turn it, Grab it, where we had to crawl under a table, turn about a bat 10 times, skip 5 times and throw a ball into a pail. Khang Wen deliberately emptied a pail of water on me after I crawled out from the table. -.-

Then, there was this station where we have to slide on benches and play Scissor, Paper, Stone. Once, I managed to clear my opponents and get to the other side without losing. Haha!

When it was our turn to climb the slippery slope, it rained heavily and we had to stay indoors. Arghh!

Orientation has, sadly, come to an end. Only regret was that I didn't manage to try the slippery slope. My group went after dismissal, but I have already showered and had no clothes to change too.

After that were Dares, 2-4-1 Pizzas and all the random, wierd games (bang, bang, bang). Then, we decided to go and terraces to watch the sky and stars. However, it ended up to be a ghost story telling session to scare the girls. LoL!

In the dark neighbourhood of my, I ran with my brother. However, only my shadow accompanied me. He was too fast. The 6 kilometres route was merely one-fifth more than the usual morning jog. Surprisingly, it felt much tougher. Later, I did some push ups. 100. My body felt so heavy and the floor seems to be sucking me downwards like the north pole of a magnet on iron fillings. The mechanism involved is getting rusty. I suppose elephants can't sit on man. It has really been a while since I felt so exhasted. It was great, although my brother "motivated" me by putting a bottle of icy cold 100 Plus in front of me when I was at the brink of collapsing.

I haven't been doing much in the holidays, except for submitting my application for lifeguard at Jurong East Swimming Pool. I am still waiting for their reply, but there isn't much time left for me to work during the holidays. My brother suggested that I work on Sundays. 半工半读！

I am playing runescape. RUNESCAPE. Oh my god! Anyway, I actually found the game play pretty nice. Although I remembered my account, the game reset it and I have to start from tutorial island.

Anyway, I went West Coast Park to jog with my uncle, cousin and sister and I saw the Part Cs playing soccer by the sea. Not sure if they saw me.

Before Hong Run leaves for Korea, he wanted to watch more movies. So, we went to watch the 2 men, Ip Man and Yes Man. Ip Man is definitely one of the best movie, and my favourite. The fighting scenes totally rocks! It's a yes to watch Ip Man.

Then we went to watch Yes Man, and Wei Long and Jun Kiat was late again. The first time was Skycrawlers. Although we did not miss anything, I just did not like to enter the cinema at the last moment, praying that I did not miss the start. The movie was kind of funny, but I wasn't in the mood, as though my heart was not in the cinema.

Anyway, everyone go and watch Ip Man!!!

Monday

Today is monday. Most people will consider today is the first day of the week, although it's not. However, for me, everyday in the holidays seems to be the same, neither the first or the last. Sunday is just like monday, and monday is just like any other day.

Of course, as not to waste my time, I went to exercise today. Exercise improves our health so it is not counted as wasting time. I went to swim with my brother who was/is training for his biathlon. Originally, I only wanted to swim 10 laps, but my brother planned to swim 30 laps. He had to pass the time trial for 30 laps under 40 minutes to participate in the event. And, I am unable to swim 30 laps consecutively. Not yet. Not yet. So, I swam 3 sets of 10 laps. At first, I had problems swimming properly because I had headache. Cold water? Maybe. Luckily, it got better as I continued. Finally, I completed the 30 laps and went to "talk cock" with the life guards there.

Oh, I went to the swimming complex at Jurong West. West, not east. My brother used to work there as a part time life guard so they know him. And, I realized that I can work as a life guard now, since I am offically 16, unlike .... never mind.

But, I have this real bad habit of not being able or willing to take up responsibility. So much so of committment and responsbility. Since I know it, I will change. Being a lifeguard seems to be easy, but the lives of the public in the pool is in your hands. You have to stop people from doing stupid things, you have to know when to blow the whistle, and perhaps even get down to save them. These aren't easy, or may be, it's just the psychological barrier I need to get over with. A life guard told me to work for 1 - 2 days a week just for fun, getting the experience. I will think about it.

Then, I went to watch The Day The Earth Stood Still. It was quite a lousy movie, but it's not the worsest movie I have ever watch. It was Skycrawlers. My brother and his friends were cursing the movie and I just kept laughing by the side. Haha.

Hi,

There isn't much going on in my life now. The following few words can describe my holidays: Eat, Sleep, WOW, Bowling, Swimming. Oh, after my birthday, I may apply for lifeguard at Bukit Batok Swimming Complex. My cousin went for the interview yesterday, I'm not sure if he made it. Hope that tomorrow will be a good day. Too bad for those who cannot go, haha! Just joking, may be someone else can host BBQ again.

I'm quite busy preparing for the BBQ. There are so many things to buy and I am not sure if I have gotten everything needed. Actually, I'm busy playing WOW, lol. Just like Lionel Tan said, "Alfred is addicted to wow." HAHA, anyway, you still own me $10.

Money, Money, Money! Everyone is worrying about money now. Many people whom I know are working now, although some are still spending money like pouring water. For me, I belong to the latter, until yesterday or the day before. I am spending too much money on bowling, food and outings recently so I decided to go into Money Saving Mode (MSM). Originally, I wanted to buy a bowling ball but, to me now, it's really really really too expensive! So, no bowling ball for me now and I have to cut down on the number of games I play.

My brother is now a 3rd Sergeant and a Fitness Specialist, as known as PTI previously. This week, he is working at NCC HQ for a physical training course. Oh, he told me that he saw some cadets from HCINCC and he went to approach them. What a small world!

Bad Day

Bad Day

Tonight, we were supposed to re-distribute the remaining food goodie bags for this month. I shouldn't say we, because it was the volunteers who helped us. In the end, I forgot about it. Sorry, I am too forgetful. I would like to apologize to the volunteers as we wasted their precious time.

Firstly, I acknowledge that I am a forgetful man and I often forget the important events. I am sincerely sorry that I forgot about tonight's re-distribution. I remember (not remember, but have a little memory about it) that there was one occasion (which I cannot remember what was it) when we went to Aden's house (which I cannot remember why). After all the fun, playing his Xbox 360 and mahjong, I totally forgot that I had to do something (which I cannot remember what was it) for my SL project. Fortunately, Aaron was there and he reminded me. Actually, I feel that Aaron is a person who can remember all the important or not important events very well (wish I could be the same).

Secondly, I would like to thank the following people - the volunteers, Winston and Bertram.

The volunteers were very kind. Although they are very busy people, they find time to offer their service to the community. It may be a simple duty to deliver food goodie bags, but it takes a person with true charitable heart to come every month without a word of complaint (sorry if this sounds exaggerating, but I cannot explain how much effort and time they have put in to our project). They do not only distribute the food goodie bags but also help us with some of the adminstrative work. Furthermore, today, the two teams of volunteers only managed to distribute one food goodie bag each, but I wasted about 1 hour of their time.

Next, Winston, thank you for accompanying me today for the distribution even though you live in Yio Chu Kang which is so far away from Clementi. I'm sorry that I did not buy the sandals, I really couldn't find a design I like. Anyway, thank you so much!

Last, Bertram, I realized how important Bertram is in our group, not as though I did not regard him as an important person previously. I feel that he is like a computer for the group. He records everything down and keeps everything in his file. Today, although I had the file, without Bertram, I did not really know what to tell the volunteers. Bertram, thank you for all the effort you put in for this project.

Tomorrow is my brother's POP! I just so excited.

Stanford Innovation Challenge

Stanford Innovation Challenge

Today, every group that took part in the Stanford Innovation Challenge were invited to Science Centre for a programme, consisting of talks, videos and ~~most importantly,~~ lunch. Wen Shan, Kenii, Joon Fai and I went there in the morning, only to realize that we are the only team that participated in the challenge. We were alone in the function room they prepared. =) Here comes the best part of the programme - Lunch. Two of the staff brought us to a buffet restaurant in the centre. Each person had to pay $20++ for it, but Science Centre sponsered for it. Everyone ate like there isn't a next meal, seafood to chicken to shishamo to ice cream. I ate 5 scoops of ice cream....

Realizing that I ate too much, I went to the school gym (weights), hopefully to burn off some fats. However, for dinner, I ate 3 bowls of rice! Therefore, I went to jog for about 30 minutes, in case I become fat....

I am packing as thought I am going for camp.

Joon Fai, Wen Shan and I will be staying at Kenii's house for the next 4 to 5 days for the Stanford Challenge. Actually, I feel bad to disturb him and his family for so long. Instead, Kenii's parents are afraid that they cannot be good hosts. Honestly, I am glad that we have a place to work and sleep. Thank you, Kenii.

The Stanford Challenge is an annual competition held in United States. I am not very sure which part is it. =) The objective of the competition is to add as much value to a mystery item as possible. The mystery item will be revealed tomorrow morning. We will complete the task by creating a video and we will be judged based on the video.

Hope we can complete the video on time and have fun while working with the US people.

Holiday?

Today is holiday but I woke up at 6.45 am, so that I can reach Kenii's house on time for the meeting with the US people. I try my best to stick to my principle of being early. And what always happen? Some people are often late. It may not be an important meeting, but they should not be taking their own sweet time and walk slowly even though they are late. Perhaps, they can inform someone beforehand.

Oh no, I am drifting away from the main topic. Moving back...

We had a meeting with the US people for about an hour or two and tomorrow, we will be having another meeting at the same time. I have to wake up very early again. =(

At night, we had our fourth distribution@Clementi. Today, 8 beneficiaries did not receive their goodie bags. It is worse than the previous month and this means that we have more work to do next week.

Thursday is the start of Stanford Challenge, but we are not really ready for it. No, I should say, we, as in those in Singapore, are ready, but as a team, including those in US, we are not. The main problem is communication. They are 12 hours behind us. When we are in the morning, they are at night. To make things worse, they cannot use MSN Live Messenger or Skype. We have not make any contact with each other.

However, there is, of course, something we can do, which is to get ourselves prepared, ready, and stay close as a team.

So, let's do it.

Today is Saturday, but I woke up at 7am for morning jog. I jogged for about 5km before heading for my grandmother's house. As I do not want to stay at home, I went out with my aunts and cousins, to Bugis. After I came back, I went to cycle with my uncle and cousin, and played badminton for a while.

It is quite a boring day (and a boring post) but it is better then staying at home, watching TV, playing computer and sleeping.

It's all over... really?

Higher Chinese O Level Examinations are finally over. No more "peel this and paste it on the answer booklet", No more "you have 2 hours for this paper", No more "you have 30 minutes left", No more question paper, No more answer booklet, No more entry proof, No more IC, No more chinese dictionary....... for this year.

This is the funniest moment for today, for me:

Invigilator: Any questions?

Wei Ern raised his hand.

Invigilator: Yes?

Wei Ern holding his electronic dictionary: What is this?

Invigilator: Errr.... An electronic dictionary.

Wei Ern: In chinese?

Invigilator: Errr...... I will settle with you later.

May be he thought that Wei Ern was tricking him.

Actually, Wei Ern wanted to know what does he have to write on the answer booklet for "Dictionary".

After the end of paper 2, we took a class photo at tower block. Afterall, we made it to top 8 for the final ranking this year. =)

Kevin, David, Karl, Wei Long, Li Cheng, Derek, Wei Ern, Joel a.k.a The Liar and I went to watch Quantum of Solace 007. It was quite a nice movie, except for the ending. A person's handphone rang thrice, thrice! *The person points the gun and suddenly* "Cos you had a bad day.... (by Alvin and the Chipmunks)" WHAT THE ****!!!! Anyway, Karl was complaining that this James Bond is so violent, only bang bang bang (gun sound) but no bang bang bang (not gun sound). It's ok if you do not get it.

Tomorrow, the day after the last examination of the year, I have to go to school for Stanford Challenge Training!!!! I admit that it is a good opportunity, but I am a little lazy and tired for this now. Morning 8.30 in EP room. http://eweek.stanford.edu/global2008/

That's Just Life

I have been studying hard for Chinese for the past few days. I consider what I did to be acceptable since it is holiday. Anyway, anyone feeling bad for not studying much for the couple of days back? Take it easy, unless you have not touch anything for the examinations. Of course, I am not saying this to make myself feel better. I am very worried about this hurdle in my life. The anxiety before taking the jump, when I am in the air and after landing, will "kill" me. And, it takes a while before I know how well I have done.

One more day left before we take this leap. Are you ready?

Hi,

Yesterday, I tried reading chinese model essay. I fell asleep after reading 4.

Today, I went to play 4 games of bowling after preparing the remaining Love Children @ HC goodie bags.

The 4K Show: All good times...

...must come to an end

Hello and welcome back to the last episode of the 4K show, with me Nicholas Tang as your host.

Today's show is not dedicated to a single member of the class; it is not dedicated to ridicule or tease - today's show stands as a momento for the 2 years of friendship past.

2 years... 24 months... 104 weeks... 731 days... 17, 544 hours... 1, 052, 640 minutes... 63,158, 400 seconds (yes, I actually bothered to punch that out in a calculator - I'm just that lame, don't judge me). 2 years is a long time. The times we had together, the things we did... I cannot even attempt to list our memories in print, what would come out would only be a shadow of the real events, a sullied version of our memory. I would not dare try describe emotion, nor would I dare to recount experience. Those would be best remembered by the members of the class who had experienced it for themselves.

As a class, we have come a long way. Meeting each other for the first time in that classroom high up on the third floor of the sec3 block, strangers thrown together by circumstance, but bonded by time (that previous sentence was in fact my answer, or close enough to my answer, for one of the questions to the eoy comprehension. Here it would be fitting to put in one of the sentences that David/Karl had been repeating to me over and over again, "When the ocean fence ya in, all is kin").

In a way, that is very much describes our situation. Our choices and decisions had in the end led us into the same class. The people in our class literally come from all walks of life, we could not have been more different. ~~How can a class built on ideas, not blood, survive (okay here I'm like crapping something I read in Time magazine)?~~

On paper, this class has very little to show for its achievements. We are not overachievers like 4I, we do not possess superior mugging abilities, nor do we have a distinct urge to serve the community, lest not beyond our minimum CIP requirement. We are lazy bastards at heart, we skimp by with what we can get away with. And yet, not despite, but because of these traits, I love this class.

We will not be marked down on paper as the best class of graduating batch '08. Nor will we be remembered as a class of All Round Excellent students, or Outstanding students. On paper, we may not be remembered. But I hope, that the memories that we had forged together and the times we had spent together... I hope all of us will bring to our graves.

I'll squeeze in one last cheese session, this time, for those who don't know, it's from Ichigo 100% (the manga):

For majority of our school life, we had been studying. But the time spent with the members of this class over the past 2 years, has created bonds that I think are unbreakable. No matter what we do with our own hands... there is always someone to help. I may not be able to provide very touching words of gratitude but... the 2 years I have spent in 4K, will be with me forever. An irreplacable memory!

Oh, and one last thing, though, it irks me when people quote that lame quote, what, "It is only the end of the beginning" and shit. At least get the damned quote right.

Now back on topic... High school is over. We now enter the unchartered, the dangerous, and the unknown. Worst still, we shall enter alone, without comrades of classrooms past. It is now we venture onto JC - The next frontier. So... "To Infinity... And Beyond!"

Batch Dinner

Yesterday was our batch dinner, no, it should be commencement dinner. It is quite ironic because the dinner, or the last supper, is supposed to mark the end of our high school life. Perhaps, it marks the start of our Junior College journey.

I wore the same attire I wore for Grand Finals, except for the pants and the blazer. I realized that the pants could not fit me only the day before yesterday. So, I went to buy a new formal business pants at Beauty World. As for blazer... I couldn't afford one.

At about 5pm, I left home for Jurong East MRT Station to meet the rest. I met Aaron, Daniel, Gerald and Jun Yan there instead of Thomson, Wei Jie, Clement, Lionel and Jereld. I board the train at 5.30 with Aaron, Daniel, Gerald and Jun Yan as I couldn't find Thomson and friends.

We reached Orchard earlier than expected and decided to wait in the station for a while. Then, we met Aaron's classmates who went to buy their clothes for batch dinner only 1 hour before the commencement of the dinner.

There were so many shops that sells branded goods at Hilton Hotel. There was this LV bag that has a camera just for itself. The waiting lobby is rather small and the entire cohort waited for Jonathan's arrival. As expected, when he arrived, everyone cheered for him as though he is a rock star.

The dinner started at slightly after 7pm and the High School Council gave out free ties. I took a black tie as it fits my white shirt. There were nothing much amazing about the dinner, except for the performance, montages and photo taking sessions. Anyway, Heng Yang, you were great yesterday, although I cannot understand Cantonese. Oh, and we were the only EP3 that had montage yesterday, so happy, Thanks Aaron.

Camera flashes kept the Grand Ball Room brighter than ever. Thousands of photos were taken, I suppose. We had about 7 cameras just to take a class photo.

"The night is still young." So we went to Aden's house to play. Wei Jing went there to sleep instead. A few of us played Mahjong until 4am this morning while others played Xbox 360 and slept rather early. Aden's mother bought McDonald's Big Breakfast and HotCakes for us. Actually, I'm feeling rather bad now. Aden has been treating us for so many times, for chalet, for this and that. Anyway, Thanks Aden and family.

We left at noon and Aaron, Wei Jing, Sam, Zi Tao, Hong Run, Daniel and I took 825 from Yio Chu Kang to Bukit Batok. Everyone slept, some even snored. Then, Zi Tao, Hong Run and I went to West Mall's Subway for lunch and met Yi Ming. We had a little chat with him before we left as someone else needed the seats. "Don't which J2 told me that I can play for J1" Yiming said that quite a number of the J1 may retain due to poor results. Moral of the story: Slacking for J1 is, definitely, a NO.

Finally, I went home and typed the above post. =)

Here's some stories from my brother who is currently training to be a PTI (WOW!):

Infact, it should be FS now, Fitness Specialist, Woah!

Anyway, his instructor once told his platoon how a PTI should be like. Hands should be behind your backs and tell the recruits, "Touch the tree and tell me how does it feel like!" Then, the recruits will run as though some creature is behind them, touch the tree, run back and report, "Sir, the tree is rough, Sir!" Calmly, the PTI should reply, "Did I say run back here and tell me? Run there again, touch the tree and report!" Needless to say, the recruits will run and touch the tree, immedaitely after, report, "The tree is rough, Sir!" Then, the PTI should reply, "I cannot hear you, come closer." The recruits will run forward and shout again, "The tree is rough, Sir!" Finally, the PTI should reply, "Did I say come so close?" (LOL -.-)

When you are running with the new recruits, you should never show that you are tired. After all, you are a PTI. However, if you are really tired, what should you do? Whole lot, knock it down! Turn to the back and start panting! =.=...

If a recruit sleeps in the class, what should you do? Tell him to go to the back of the class. If he ask for permission to knock it down, say no! Tell him to do jumping jacks so he can still listen and look at you. How many? Until I'm happy =)

Anyway, I was really inspired by Step Up 2 Streets. Oh my god! Dancing is so cool, but I know nothing about it. LOL. Something to consider for college EP3...

There goes my 1.00 dream again.

Last year, I missed that goal by just a little bit, all A1s and 1 A2 (English). My final MSG was 1.12, 3rd in class. This year, I was rather hopeful of fulfilling this dream. In fact, after the first round of paper check, I became pretty confident about achieving MSG of 1.00. The nightmare came today. I almost failed English and did really badly for Chinese. I was disappointed about my Chinese results because I have never did so badly before. So I have to work real hard for my Chinese O Levels as I want my A1!

And so, 1.00, bye bye! Arghh! =(

Wait, I guess I can also forget about getting AREA or OSA now; unless I can achieve 1.50 and below, then I may have a chance of getting OSA. Heart pain!

总而言之，我真的非常失望。我的成绩那么差，可能是我没够用功，也可能是今年的考试比较难。当然，我应该感到高兴，至少我还能升级到初级学院。明天，我将到初级学院参观，顺便考虑明年的课外活动。哦，明天，我朋友将庆祝他的生日，但是我还没想到要买什么给他。“几够力”

As we are unable to shift the trip to US AOS to a later date, we need to call the trip off. However, you'll still be in the competition in mid NovemberMy first ever trip out of Asia has been cancelled as it clashes with our Chinese O Levels Examinations.
